Salmon Release Party

Here in Oregon, we start training our "tree huggers" from the "get-go!" Abby's third grade class at Central Elemetary parented 200 salmon eggs in their classroom. Of those eggs, they released 150 baby salmon into the Willamette (pronounced will-lam-it) River this week (a few of those ended up belly up in the shallows.) Each kid got to name their babies as they set them free. Abby named her baby salmon "Maggie" and Ben named his frys "Inu" (pronounced Eeenew, it means "dog" in Japanese,) "Norbert," and "Chad" (named after Chad Decker, our teenaged neighbor boy.)
